The sheer volume of fireflies here is staggering. The cruise runs deep into the mangroves, and the operators are highly professional, actively maneuvering the boat so both sides get an unimpeded view. Fireflies frequently land directly on the boat, making the experience feel highly immersive.
Photography is a lost cause. You must drop your screen brightness to zero and kill your flash. Do not waste the trip trying to capture a dark river on a smartphone—just watch. The guides, particularly June, are loaded with facts and keep the energy high in the pitch black.
